Thank You Malcolm Butler! Now We Can Exhale. The New England Patriots Win the Superbowl!

I am a lifelong Patriots fan. I am not a sports nerd. But, I have a tear in the corner of my eye. Asian honey sticky ribs and beer await for my victory celebration.

Thoughts? Reactions? Is this one of the most competitive and entertaining Superbowls ever?

Now, I can exhale.

Wow. Unbelievable.

That may have been the worst play call in Super Bowl history.

If Seattle won it was great; If Seattle loses it is a horrible one.

Congrats to the NE Patriots and all their fans.

Growing up in British Columbia, I was always a Seahawks fan. In defeat, I'll admit that NE outplayed Seattle. I've never liked the Patriots. I don't even like their name.

The Seahawks are flashy and they made the big plays yesterday. That is, until *enter* Malcolm Butler. We haven't heard the last of Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch, Richard Sherman, Chris Matthews and company. Is anyone going to remember the immaculate reception by Jermaine Kearse?

Re: "That may have been the worst play call in Super Bowl history."

Easy to say that now in hindsight. Had Seattle got the ball off on the previous play it probably would have worked. When Seattle didn't get the ball off, the Pats may have suspected something was up. The Seahawks should have gone back to Lynch who is always good for a pickup. But then again, easy to say that now in hindsight.

It would have been worth watching if the Green Bay Packers played this game.

A long suffering Bear's fan. . . Seattle throwing a pass in that situation will go down in Super Bowl history as the dumbest play ever tried. . .

Better than last year when the Denver Broncos did not even bother to show up to play. Worst. Superbowl. Ever. that I've seen.

This year was damn good.

I've never been a sports fan, but your happiness rubs off on me. Now I only hope there are some great sports bloopers or angry interviews to come out of this

One of the better Super Bowl games. Why Seattle didn't just give it to Lynch, given the way he was playing, from one yard out to win is just mind boggling. I can imagine Pete Carroll must be beside himself.

In any case, I'm glad the Patriots won. I'm not a Pats fan, but I think they were dragged through the mud a bit over "inflate gate." Why anyone would think a player of Brady's caliber and record would need to cheat to win is beyond me.

I had no skin in the game, so it was simply a fun game to watch. I'm of two minds on deflate-gate. 1) 11 out of 12 balls deflated = someone cheated. Not a big deal in the scheme of the game, but if you're going to have a rule, enforce it. 2) Good on Belichick for taking full advantage of what the NFL is willing to let him take. If slightly deflated footballs let you fumble less, and the NFL doesn't seem to care about this rule, then you're a fool for not slightly deflating your footballs. The NFL can't have it both ways - they can't pretend their game is an example of the pinnacle of athletic achievement and spirit of competition AND turn a blind eye to some forms of cheating. The former is marketing B.S., the latter is just a football game. Belichick knows the score. It's just a football game.
