A Conversation With Writer Andrew Heisel About Race, Sports, and 'Free White and Twenty-One'

Writer Andrew Heisel is the guest on this week's episode of The Chauncey DeVega Show. Andrew's great essays and other work have been featured by such publications and sites as the Washington Post, Jezebel, Slate, LA Review of Books, and Vice Sports.

He is a great raconteur. In this week's conversation, Andrew and Chauncey talk about writing, the New England "deflategate" scandal, corruption in professional sports, concussions, "biorhythms", as well as the origins of the 1950's and 1960's era racist slogan "free white and twenty-one".

During this week's episode of The Chauncey DeVega Show, Chauncey offers a memorial for Phife Dawg (Malik Taylor), cuts a promo on black Donald Trump supporters, talks about meeting Edward James Olmos at Chicago's C2E2 event, complains about forced prayer and hand-holding, and offers up a solution to the challenges caused by ISIS and its plague of sexually frustrated and unemployed young men.

This episode with guest Andrew Heisel can be downloaded from Libysn and also listened to here.

The Chauncey DeVega Show is available on Itunes and at Stitcher as well.
