Our annual fundraiser has arrived.
As friends of ChaunceyDevega.com and WARN know, this project is a labor of love. I enjoy sharing with and learning from the kind readers, fans, and supporters of my work. "Speaking truth to power" in a direct and honest way is one of the guiding principles for my online work.
This effort does take time, energy, and resources. Contrary to popular belief, there is no vast "liberal conspiracy" supporting folks like myself and our various efforts to work for a better and more inclusive Common Good. I am rarely compensated for my online work, nor is one paid for their various guest spots on TV or radio if they are lucky enough to be given such opportunities.
I have been given numerous offers to run advertisements and paid for content here on WARN. I have declined such offers because I want to maintain the independence and freedom of the site.
With the support of the friends and fans of my work, I have expanded the podcast series known as The Chauncey DeVega Show, made myself more available for television and other media, and have future projects forthcoming.
The twice a year annual fundraiser is a great help. The symbolic gesture is so very meaningful; the material support is a great help too, as there are opportunity costs and other expenses that come with the good number of hours that WARN requires to maintain on a weekly basis.
Almost all of the content here on WARN is original. I rarely repost work from other sites. This requires a great amount of time and discipline.
If you can and are willing (once you take care of your human and animal family members) please do throw some gold or silver into the collection pile during our fundraiser. You can do so by clicking on the Paypal link on the right hand sidebar of the site.
I have set an arbitrary amount for this fundraiser and will pull the begging bowl back in once that sum is reached. Hopefully, as in previous years, we can have a successful fundraiser.
As a thank you for the kind support and donations, I have some special guests lined up for this month's episodes of The Chauncey DeVega Show.
