The Tea Party GOP's Next Movie Trailer at CPAC Features Zardoz and the Evils of the Talon Slide Fastener

Pathetic.

I can see a group of 60ish year old media consultants sitting in a generic boardroom, motivational prints framed on the wall, brainstorming about how to reach those youngsters with all of their crazy ways but still very impressionable, open to the wisdom and "truth" of the Tea Party GOP.

Suit number one has the great idea that those talking pictures are pretty cool. Suit number two chimes in about how his daughter loves those Twilight movies. Suit number three responds that the Hunger Games are pretty neat too! Head suit's nephew owns a production house that is really him and his friends with a few Macbooks who started a video production company in mom and dad's basement. Deal signed. Check cashed.

Popular culture is almost always about the now. While the motif of this Tea Party GOP movie trailer suggests that dystopia awaits all Americans because of the evils of such nebulous social ills as "health care" and "progressive taxes" in the future.

For the Tea Party GOP, commentaries about the nature of the future are really about legitimating conspiranoid politics in the present, undercutting the legitimacy of the country's President who happens to be black, and playing up some fantasy notion of a tyrannical rule which can only be stopped by live action role-playing zombie faux astroturf political "activists" called the Tea Party people and their gun fetishism founding father wet dreams.

And when the domestic terrorism comes to pass--which the Tea Party GOP has intentionally ginned up--the latter will wash their hands of it, look down at the ground, innocent, palms open, and say "who me? we are innocent!"

The Tea Party GOP's next commercial will feature the evils of the talon slide fastener...otherwise known as the zipper. The Right's dream merchants and spin doctors are already story-boarding the ad: those whippersnappers who use that Facebook thingie and put their daguerreotypes online on that Instagram dealie will really find our next ad really neat and snazzy! We are the future!

System shocks can create political realignments that break or make a given political party. By comparison, the Tea Party GOP is dying a slow death. It will not be a dramatic shift which throws the Tea Party GOP coalition onto the refuse pile of American politics.

Rather, they are gangrenous and stink of feted head cheese.

Generational replacement and demographic changes are the stuff of the New Right's nightmares; many of them are still stuck in their own herrenvolk bubble of denial, one where Romney had the 2012 election "stolen" from him, and through some twisted machinations, the troglodyte base of the Republican Party actually believes that their champions have a mandate to lead the American people against the black Marxist communist fascist Muslim black liberation theologist hate whitey black half-breed white momma with a black daddy president.

Maybe the next Tea Party GOP movie will be inspired by either the classic B-movies Zardoz or Lifeforce. Obama, space vampires, and mayhem are a perfect fit for the Tea Party GOP imaginary. How can that hellish mix possibly be trumped?

More evidence, if any is needed, that the Tea Party is the tantrum of American politics: Irrational, overly dramatic, and uncompromising. Even though it's appeal is nearly pure emotionalism, I wouldn't be surprised if the video stirs some thoughtless youth to identify themselves with the Tea Party. That kind of emotionalism unfortunately sells. But I doubt they can attract enough youth to their cause to overcome the generational and demographic changes the country is going through. More likely, they'll just prolong the agony of their death.

That's right. Let's beat the hell out of that paper tiger, while that murderous half black austerian in the White House sells us down the river.

Obama derangement syndrome is a hell of a drug.

I like that, the Tea Party GOP as a temper tantrum. Great metaphor.

Yep. Along with delusional Obamaphilia.

I like a cheap bit of frontage. Where can I get some? Are there Obama peep shows and private booths I can frequent?

Politics is an act of vision and imagination at its best. Do share, your vision, some policy suggestions, or the like, that go beyond ODS.

Hmmm. Let me think about that second question a bit. Of course the prerequisite for anything positive from BO is that he stop leading us down the primrose path. Stop the damage he's doing, first of all, turn around and head in the right direction. As for the first question, no. No peep shows. That would require transparency and, in spite of what he said that, we know how he really feels.,

"Lifeforce" name check!! AWESOME. Tobe Hooper out-camps his own "Chainsaw Massacre"!! (The CPAC video *wishes* it could be so paranoid!)

Obama peep show I just encountered at supermarket checkout: "Fit and 51! Obama struts it on the beach!" (paraphrase :) )

or, as we say in White Privilege Bootcamp: "Black Don't Crack!!"

Patrick Stewart too.

Lots of good skin in the flick for a young ghetto nerd. I also recall having a very vivid nightmare after falling asleep while watching said movie.

Yes! (OT -- showing my age -- upon seeing TNG for the first time, I thought "oh, the captain is that guy from DUNE"....)

Glenn Greenwald notes that even Democratic party loyalists are getting fed up with Obama’s Bush-like actions.

Join 'em. There is hope for delusional Obamaphiles.
