Chauncey DeVega says: Brother Obama Meets Brother Chavez--So, How Would You Caption This Photo?

We haven't done this in a long time. How would you caption this photo? I have two wholly unrelated caption suggestions:

1. Damn, Obama that is a nice cut you got. Can Wali fly down here and give me an edge up?

2. Chavez to Obama: Brother, don't take any IMF money to finance your bailout, their terms are worse than a payday loan.

3. Not a comment, but a musical cue--would the soundtrack for them giving each other dap be, Wu-Tang's "Triumph"; Jay-Z's "Can't Knock the Hustle (the remix)"; KRS-One's "Can't Wake Me Up (I'm a Blunt Being Smoked)"; Dre and Cube's "Natural Born Killaz"; or Biggie's "Real Niggas Do Real Things"?

Why not? This is one of the boldest, ballsy, hard body moves I have seen in a long time--Chavez calling Bush out at the United Nations:

Do you smell the sulfur?

That one on the IMF is perfect. I'm not even going to try to top that.

I wonder if Obama will get back to Chavez on that book after reading it. He should follow it up with Confessions of an Economic Hit Man, by John Perkins.

I was really interested to witness how Chavez would interact with Obama. Chavez has built his base around the idea that a "mulatto" should lead a "mulatto" country -- before people get their pants in a wad, mulatto --> creolismo --> hybrid --> mestizaje. I would guess that he really admires Obama and wants to build a friendship. The question is, how does Obama feel about Chavez?

Hugo Chavez is the first person of indigenous heritage to be elected in Venezuela. He acknowledges his African roots and is attempting and succeeding in empowering the poor of Venezuela. He has offered oil free or at a reasonable rate, medicine, food and services to the poor in communities around the world.

This new administrations is desperately trying to repair the harm to its reputation caused by GWB's tenure in office. Yet, the sulfur is still misting the air around Washington, DC as the Obama administration boycotts the World Racism Conference, which is taking place today (04.20.2009) in Geneva, Switzerland.
