They jeered a gay soldier in Afghanistan on active duty, cheered at the hundreds of executions in Texas, and shouted "Let him die!" to the dilemma of a person who had no health insurance but then came down with cancer. And the peanut-throwing incident was confirmed by the CNN female camera person. But I do trust the reporters from Univision on this story. Being a pragmatist on Obama's obligation t...CD

Being a pragmatist on Obama's obligation to secure energy resources for the US as a matter of national security, at the expense of very expendable black/brown folk around the world who happen to unfortuitously occupy the ground where it is found, who for lack of a sufficient defense against those who would jockey to have it, are condemned folk any way...so what the hell...they are going to die anyhow...so let's just be hawkish about it...kill them...exploit them...without any thought about it. That's our justification? Oh, and by the way, we'll let Big OIl keep all those ungodly profits that our tax dollars subsidize and underwrite with the use of our military, while they pay negative taxes. Pragmatic?

Being pragmatic, we will also not support transforming our transportation system to an integrated rail system like China to reduce our dependence on gas and so many automobiles designed to waste gas. That's OK because we don't really care that much about killing black/brown folk for oil cause they're so expendable. In fact, there are more expendable than the finite supply of oil.

That is, and always has been the pragmatic approach to our kind of capitalism. Like the drone warfare we are engaged in, there is always the blowback. The blowback is that it inevitably comes back home to roost. Now those same drones are being deployed here because the exploiters, who are exploiting their own people with the same lack of mercy, fear the people. You are quite correct in saying that when it comes to getting what they want it doesn't matter if you are white, black, latino, Yemen, Afganistan, Iraqi, Pakistani, if you can't stop it... What do they want? Everything. The grand game cares little.

We see that same cold hawkish attitude being played out by the racists at the GOP Convention with the "others" who represent a national white security threat, as they see it, to the ever-dwindling resources of the 99%, many of whom have historically enjoyed the spoils of American White Privilege/racism. The dog whistles have indeed been heard by these poor scared stupid mongrels. Their barking at every person of color who waks by is very embarrassing.

They are wanting to bite Obama for the wrong reasons.

Razornoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-57113078446695664.post-34821252127060825152012-08-29T23:35:14.824-05:002012-08-29T23:35:14.824-05:00“you are proceeding from a false assumption that o...“you are proceeding from a false assumption that obama, who is president of the u.s….”

CDV, that’s never been my assumption. Barack Obama, The Perfect Proxy (my original description from 2008), is doing precisely what I anticipated he would do from early on in his campaign.

“Racism is an instinctive tool to capture resources and deny them to competitor ‘species.’ This is why Obama is backed by the Wall Street bankers. To them, he is a tool to safeguard their fortunes against the rising tide of public resentment.” – Manuel Garcia (2008)

You raised the issue about the “lives of people of color are still expendable.” I was just checking to see how far your complaints about extra-judicial killings extended. Apparently they stop at the borders of the United States. Justice in your mind is obviously divisible: “If I were advising him and it came down to killing people in order to accomplish said goals, then so be it.” Then you claim to be concerned about blowback—lol.

Hey, that’s at least one point you, Obama, and Romney agree on. Blacks at the convention: I'm sure that many of them are there for good reasons, similar to what Greg has suggested. I've known many Blacks who got themselves on committees and boards where they were treated more or less courteously, they smiled through the bad parts to try to accomplish something. Good for them.

2. White Progressives: all stripes here, and many just like the 60's "not with my sister" Liberals. As has been said, pick your friends carefully.

3. Puerto Ricans: no surprise, but I love Puerto Ricans. Whether the New Right Devils like it or not, Blacks and Puerto Ricans are just as American as anybody. PR's got drafted and died just like the farm boys, and you can look up the list of Puerto Ricans who were awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor (mostly posthumously, as usual).

4. Extra-Judicial Killings: I feel like you do, Professor. This drone nonsense is wrong, counter-productive and more than a little bit stupid. But I'm more concerned with E-J killings at home. Fred Hampton was a pure E-J killing. That's an old example, but the lesson is that first the Panthers were demonized, which made it okay to kill them. Just one more demon gone. Lot's of demonization going on today too, and it's a short step to killings. fred chttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10812811681270634366noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-57113078446695664.post-6762928990189782812012-08-29T21:44:41.612-05:002012-08-29T21:44:41.612-05:00Chauncey, I responded to this heckling here: http:...Chauncey, I responded to this heckling here: http://perpetuatedease.tumblr.com/post/30470923563/bordersofwhiteness

I agree with about 90% of what you wrote here, except I'm not so certain it matters whether or not these goons are too stupid to know that we Puerto Ricans are citizens.
