However, he is "owned" by the banks and is a puppet of certain special interest groups (IDL). What will we as a people do after President Obama leaves the White House for his home in Switzerland (Purchased for him by his friends at JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, Citigroup, Bank of America, Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs)? Let us use these two characters as a basis of a discussion and debate in our plans to save and advance Black America.Thomasnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-57113078446695664.post-50676336523686637392013-09-17T12:36:07.058-05:002013-09-17T12:36:07.058-05:00Over the years, listening to Cornel West banging o...Over the years, listening to Cornel West banging on about his roots in the Black Church has come to remind me of nothing so much as an old timey politician, boasting of having been born in a log cabin. The Sanity Inspectorhttp://atlantarofters.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-57113078446695664.post-47707593571578378522013-09-16T10:36:06.420-05:002013-09-16T10:36:06.420-05:00How can we consider any of these clowns (Smiley/We...How can we consider any of these clowns (Smiley/West) after your aforementioned heavyweights of yesteryear. I dont know nobody checking for them like that. I'd more/less follow your instructions, CDV, to make peace or war before them. That's not a demotion to your character, it's just that I value the WARNations' (commenters included) opinion on all things political that much. It's not just them, I'm not compelled to get behind any of the current cycle of 'black representation' from '80-present. I refuse to refer to them as leaders. Garvey had actual plans in motion to move his people forward. What we have now are simply commentators, commenting on the freedom struggle trying to master pentameter, rhythmic-syllabic, consonant-connecting, pontificating-prose on the public like a magician w/a new trick.

Narcisse & Chalky actually held my attention. I will be checking for them in any capacity. Hopefully that capacity is one of alliance. Both seem to be tempest in business & violence. Unlike Narcisse & Chalky, West(/Barack, etc.) could have had a convo/came to an understanding behind closed doors, being @least cordial, if not united, in public. So what we have is four potentially strong TV personalities; I'll only be checking for 2 of them on Sunday nights. That meant he/she couldn't be externally radicalized, had to be the smartest person in the room, had to have the power of speech, and most-importantly, had to be non-threatening when speaking about race.

I know Cornell West at one time recognized this reality, but seems to have forgotten it. Look at the flat-out bullshit Obama had to overcome to become president. Reverend Wright was a HUGE issue and there was nothing controversial about that guy for anyone with half a brain. Obama sat on an education advisory board with a former Weatherman and that became a huge issue because clearly that makes him a bomb-thrower. Terrorist fist-bump anybody? And, as we all know, despite his obvious and evident intelligence, he was clearly an affirmative action hire (show me the transcripts!). Despite his family being a classic American success story, this is the reality Obama lives with as president. To stay legitimate and wield power, he has to embody the "Live it to Beaver" gestalt otherwise nothing-burger issues for a white guy are political suicide for Obama.

Michelle Obama wants kids to eat their vegetables and watch their weight and is labelled the Antichrist. WTF?

Dr. West has decided to let the perfect be the enemy of the good. It's OK to criticize the president from this angle, but to delegitimize Obama as a voice of and for the black experience as this piece does is unnecessary.DanFnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-57113078446695664.post-19735767715522911332013-09-16T09:16:02.830-05:002013-09-16T09:16:02.830-05:00I think the more relevant context re: Black Freedo...I think the more relevant context re: Black Freedom Struggle is Obama's position on Stop and Frisk, Trayvon Martin (Stand Your Ground Laws), prison reform, including sentencing laws and voting rights.

In regards to militarism Obama is not a pacifist, yet I see his use of military for 2 reasons: self defense and averting or punishing genocide which in the 21st century is about protecting POC.

Spying does not set my hair on fire: I think we need changes in how the FISA court is formed and more checks and balances throughout the NSA. I also question the amount of $$$ thrown at private contractors and how they vet people for security clearances. All fixable. The system won't be perfect but there is no such thing as perfection in human endeavors.pamelabrown53noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-57113078446695664.post-85459921577733217752013-09-16T08:56:30.674-05:002013-09-16T08:56:30.674-05:00I'm tired of Dr West. Ok, the president does ...I'm tired of Dr West. Ok, the president does things we don't like. Let's deal with the issues as they are. I don't give a flying fuck about Dr West's interpretation of Black history. What I care about is what's happening today and how to fix it. Can we talk about Obama's mistakes without attacking his character? It's time to let Dr King rest in peace. He is not coming back to save us. Prophetic tradition. He can't be serious.Vic78noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-57113078446695664.post-27120290708675951432013-09-16T01:46:54.520-05:002013-09-16T01:46:54.520-05:00He may have been. Radicals do not ascend to that position. The question still remains: how do we locate Obama relative to the Black Freedom Struggle, esp. given his position on spying, invasion of privacy, militarism, etc.?chauncey devegahttp://wearerespectablenegroes.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-57113078446695664.post-7681173673291474312013-09-15T23:04:55.647-05:002013-09-15T23:04:55.647-05:00NOT Cornel West.
