In addition to his screenplays and graphic novels, he is the author of the books Cold in July, the short story Bubba Ho-Tep, and the Hap and Leonard series. Cold in July and Bubba Ho-Tep were made into great films. The Hap and Leonard novels are being adapted by Sundance TV as a 6 episode series.
I am a huge fan of his work. It is always great to sit down and chat with someone whose creativity you find both admirable and inspiring.

Champion Joe doesn't play around. It was an honor to talk with him. Any other thoughts on the convo, plus or minus?
I didn't realize the breadth of things Champion Joe worked on. I grew up on Batman and Superman the Animated Series, and didn't realize he wrote some of my favorite episodes. Reading up on his work made me think about other adaptations of Old West genre. I'm catching up on the Thrilling Adventure Hour's Sparks Nevada Marshall on Mars episodes. If anyone likes Joe Lansdale, might I recommend *again* Orlando Sanchez? His first book, The Spiritual Warriors is now available as an Amazon Kindle ebook for 99 cents. He's also a martial arts expert and author. (My kids take lessons at his dojo but I've read almost all his books and they are very entertaining.)
I'm betting on Selma for best picture tonight. I think Selma's lack of nominations will work in its favor. I have not seen Birdman!
I don't know about Selma. Could it sneak in? Not sure. Birdman or Boyhood. Remember, to add water as need be as the dish cooks down. I took that for granted. You will have a mighty good sleep afterwards. Don't tell your doctor!
